Tobias Tovera is a very talented artist. He uses various techniques to make these incredible paintings with immense depth. He also does performance art and is just remarkable. These are two of his series and I am completely blown away.
His statement:
" Energy and transmutation are key words in my work. I create energy systems that posit new dimensions to otherwise static materials by introducing chemical reactions that change, shift, or renews itself.
Currently my work explores paint as a sculptural object in which the process of the medium diffuses into the surface. I create compositions of entropic verdigris that conjure layered textures of color and space based on movement and evaporation. Though I may begin with a color that embodies an elemental archetype, these ‘life forms’ unfold in a natural rhythm of their own; each layer becoming a kind of topography upon which time can be re-experienced.
With each layer of fluid pigment I wish to explore the equilibrium between what is intended and what is achieved, a process that results neither from control over these forces nor surrender to them, but rather from immersion in them. I become immersed in both what I want to achieve and what the material wants. By incorporating and encouraging random developments in my practice, I seek to restrain intent thus allowing a more spiritual aspect to enter my work".

His experimentation is deliberate but the outcome is not. This journey produces something beautiful.
