Sakir Gokcebag is so creative that I had to do another post on his wonderful photo projects. Please check out his website. These photographs are actually really similar to his installation art but he photographs his work. The particular projects being highlighted have to do with the art he creates from different food. It's pretty cool and extremely aesthetically pleasing. Enjoy
Sakir Gokcebag is an amazing talented installation artists and photographer. In this particular post I am going to feature his installations. He has this amazing ability to make amazing shapes and designs with ordinary objects and it is truly magical. Please take a look at his website for more photographs of his work. I love installation work, I think it's the inner collage artist that makes me love putting objects together into an area that maybe it doesn't really belong. I hope you enjoy Sakir Gokcebag's installation art as much as I do. Source: www.sakirgokcebag.com
Loui Jover is an artist from Australia. He really is a remarkable artist and his work to me is really "pop" meaning it's something people love right now. Check him out at this website. His drawings are ink on vintage book pages. It's really pretty fun and I have to think that he is a romantic at heart because his drawings seem to capture romance, passion, and creativity of being human. He loves umbrellas, cameras, special moments, and dancing. What's not to love about that?? Here's what he has to say about his work. "Right now I like making ink drawings on adhered together sheets of vintage book paper, there is a fragility to these images that I find interesting (as if the wind may blow them away at any moment) and the hand drawn stark black lines against the intricate printed words of the book pages offer a strange fusion and depth that seems to give the images a kind of 'meaning' and back story, even though unconnected in a contrived way. I never pick the image for the pages or visa-versa they just collide as chance permits, any meaning they may have is purely created by the observer and their own imaginings." Source: Loui Jover
In honor of Galentines Day I present to you my sister Caitlin's project. She is hosting a Galentines Day party tomorrow and presenting the women with collages featuring book heroines. You can see her journey of creating these fantastic, whimsical, and inspiring collages on her website (plus it features all of the collection while I will only feature a few).
I'm utterly enraptured with Kate Shaw's paintings. Her landscape paintings have so much movement. I think my favorite is her "Mass" painting, she really captures the mysticism and beauty of the iceberg. There's always more beneath the surface. She captures all the colors in nature. There's collage and paint. Love!! Source: http://www.kateshaw.org/ and http://www.fehilycontemporary.com.au/pages/kate-shaw/_
National Geographic Found is a really great tumblr that features photographs from National Geographic for the past 125 years. It's really fun. These are some of my favorites. My sister has been telling me for a very long time to watch this documentary. I finally did and I am so grateful! The Rape of Europa is about hitler's mission to obtain art during WWII and also the retrieval of the art. Of course, there continue to be works of art that are still lost. It's really incredible and sad but hopeful. Art is a precious part of society. They cover the work of monument men which coincidently there is a movie with George Clooney and Matt Damon star in that is about these amazing me and their mission to protect the monuments of Europe. It's a fantastic documentary. I've been trying to improve my photography skills. I recently purchased the book entitled "Creative Photography 52 Fun Exercises with Your Camera". I completed exercise one which was to take your smartphone camera and take a 30 minute walk and take photographs. Hopefully it gets better from here but I will tell you this it was fun and I saw some things in Logan I hadn't really noticed. It's about the journey of learning.

Isn't this what we need on a Monday morning in the middle of January? I used to only associate Edvard Munch with the crazy, passionate, and totally disturbing painting "The Scream" but I have recently acquainted myself with some of his other works of art. Let me tell you... What a treasure! I particularly love this painting he did of one Rodin's The Thinker. I love when one artist's work collides with another's work and create magic. Everything this man paints is full of movement and life. I think my favorite part of the painting (besides of course the thinker) are people sitting on the benches (you know like they are thinking).
